Another in his ongoing series on “Trees of the Miombo Woodlands”, Gus escapes the bonds of lockdown to look at one of his favourite thorn trees, the white thorn, Senegalia (previously “Acacia”) polyacantha. For those confused by the name change, he also gives a quick overview of some of the key differences between the two genera (Vachellia and Senegalia) formerly lumped together under the name “Acacia”. An excellent primer for those, like many African tree lovers, who are bemused by these changes!
