Beautiful to look at and its timber has a scent like sandalwood. But be careful. If you inhale its smoke, you’ll be running for the toilet in double quick time! This is the Tamboti tree, Spirostachys africana – found in the Limpopo basin of Southern Africa. Full of magical mystery, known for its medicinal properties, and spectacular in its autumnal colours.
