In November 2018, the World Wildlife Fund released its latest Living Planet Index. This biannual report measures and monitors changes in global biodiversity. The 2018 version made alarming reading, recording a 60 % overall decline in animal populations in a 40 year timeframe. In this special edition, Gus Le Breton, the African Plant Hunter, looks at nature and biodiversity, and asks why it’s important to human survival and what would happen to humans without it.
